What we do here

Roofing Underwood ND Properties Rely On

Around Underwood, the buildings that need a roof range from family homes and businesses in town to farm shops and machine sheds in the country. Each one needs a roof built for open country, where wind and storms meet very little in their way. As a roofer in Underwood, ND, we match the material and method to the building in front of us.

  • Metal roofing: steel panels suit shops, pole barns and outbuildings, and standing seam metal works on houses too.
  • Roof replacement: a worn shingle roof is torn off, the deck is checked board by board, and a new system goes on.
  • Roof repair: wind-lifted shingles, cracked boots around vent pipes and failing flashing are fixed before they leak.
  • Hail damage repair: we document storm damage for your insurance claim and meet the adjuster when you need us there.
  • Commercial roofing: businesses in town get a crew that plans around their hours and keeps the site tidy.
Local knowledge

A Roofer in Underwood, ND Who Knows the Road From Bismarck

Underwood is a McLean County city that grew up along the Soo Line Railroad. It was founded in 1903 on the line between Bismarck and Max and was named for a railroad vice president. The 2020 census counted 784 residents, and Underwood Public School serves the community.

The town is also tied to energy. Coal Creek Station sits near the Missouri River between Underwood and Washburn, and Blue Flint Ethanol is based in Underwood. US Highway 83 runs through town on a stretch shared with ND Highway 200. The same highway is our crew's route north from Bismarck.

Neighbors along the same corridor include Washburn and Wilton. Every project starts the same way: a visit to the property, a close look at the roof and a clear written estimate.

Metal Roofing Underwood ND Shops and Outbuildings Need

A rural shop or machine shed is often the hardest working building on a property, and its roof protects equipment, feed and tools. Steel roofing sheds snow, stands up to wind and asks for little upkeep once it is installed with the right fasteners and trim. On an older pole building, we check the purlins and replace rusted or loose panels before new steel goes on.

Houses can wear metal too. A standing seam roof has concealed fasteners and long, clean panels that shed water quickly. For a homeowner weighing a roof replacement in Underwood, we lay out the difference between metal and architectural shingles in plain terms, so the choice fits the house and the budget.

Wind is the main test for any roof this far up the prairie. Panels, trim and ridge caps are fastened at the spacing the product calls for, and the laps at the eaves are sealed so blowing snow stays outside where it belongs.

Roofing for Underwood Businesses and Rental Properties

A business in a small community depends on its building staying dry and open. A leak over a counter or a stockroom can cost more in lost time and damaged stock than the repair itself. On a commercial building, we look at the whole roof system, including drains, edges and any rooftop equipment, and plan the work so the doors can stay open where possible. Scheduling, material deliveries and daily cleanup are coordinated with the business owner ahead of time.

Owners of rental houses and apartment buildings get the same planning. We can inspect several properties in one trip, report on each roof in writing and suggest which ones need attention first. That gives a landlord a clear picture before storm season, instead of an unexpected call from a tenant.

Had Draxen construction out to take care of our roof in Bismarck, and they did an excellent job. The crew showed up ready to work, communicated throughout the project, and paid attention to the little details. Everything was done professionally, and they made sure the property was cleaned up before leaving. It's hard to find contractors who take pride in their work but Draxen definitely delivered. Highly recommend them for roofing in the Bismarck area!

Draxen crew came and did vinyl siding on my house. Everything came out just the way I thought it would. Everything was straight and they had cuts really precise. They even went around all the openings with caulk to seal up holes and edges around fixtures on the house. They held themselves in a professional manner while working on my house. When they found an issue with the house they brought it to my attention and we found a solution fairly quickly so they could keep working. They offer multiple solutions and didn’t make me feel strong armed while needing the services. Very good company in all and will be using them again for anything exterior. Very reasonably priced as well.

Common questions

Underwood Roofing and Exterior Questions

(701) 504-9808
Will you come from Bismarck to look at a roof in Underwood?

Yes. Underwood is one of the towns we serve from our shop at 1907 Morrison Ave in Bismarck, reached by heading north on US Highway 83. We come out to see the roof in person before giving an estimate, because a photo rarely shows soft decking or worn flashing. Call (701) 504-9808 to set up a visit.

Can you put a new metal roof on my farm shop or pole barn?

Yes. Metal roofing is a strong fit for shops, machine sheds and other outbuildings around Underwood. We inspect the framing first, replace damaged or rusted panels where needed, and install new steel with matching trim and fasteners. For a building that also needs new walls, we can handle the siding at the same time.

How do I know whether my Underwood home needs a repair or a full replacement?

A roof with a few damaged shingles or one leak is usually a repair. Widespread curling, granules collecting in the gutters, several leaks or soft spots underfoot point toward replacement. We walk the roof, show you photos of what we find and explain both options, so you can decide with the facts in front of you.
