Washburn Services

Roofing in Washburn, ND, from Main House to Machine Shed

When a Washburn property holds more than one building, we plan the work around everything on the lot. These four services cover most of what local owners ask us about.

  • Roof replacement: a roof replacement in Washburn makes sense when shingles are curling, granules are washing into the gutters or repairs keep piling up.
  • Siding: new siding in Washburn, ND seals up walls exposed to open country and gives an older house a clean, finished look.
  • Metal roofing: standing seam and other metal panels suit homes, shops and outbuildings, and they shed snow and hold up in strong wind.
  • Gutters: well sized gutters and downspouts move spring melt away from the foundation instead of letting it pool beside the house.
Local Knowledge

A County Seat with Lewis and Clark History

Washburn sits on the upper Missouri River in southern McLean County and has been the county seat since 1883. The town was founded in 1882 near the site of Fort Mandan, where the Lewis and Clark Expedition spent the winter of 1804 to 1805. Today the North Dakota Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in town includes a full-scale replica of that fort.

US 83 runs through both Washburn and Bismarck, and ND 200 Alternate also serves the town. With about 1,300 residents at the 2020 census, Washburn is small enough that a roofer from out of town gets noticed, which is one more reason we clean up thoroughly and leave every yard the way we found it.

Lake Sakakawea, created in 1956 when Garrison Dam was built, forms the western edge of McLean County. Homes and cabins across the county see a wide range of conditions, and we look at each building on its own terms rather than applying one plan to every job.

How a Roofer in Washburn, ND Plans Around the Seasons

Central North Dakota gives a crew a limited window for big exterior projects, with long, snowy winters and summer storms that can bring hail and high wind. Working as a roofer in Washburn, ND, we help owners decide what needs to happen before the snow arrives and what can wait until spring. A roof that leaks now usually gets a repair right away, with a full replacement scheduled when the weather allows.

Distance matters too. Because Washburn is a drive from our shop, we group the inspection, the estimate and the materials list so each trip covers as much as possible. You get a clear written plan for the roof, siding or gutters, and we confirm the timing with you before the crew heads north.

Matching New Siding to a New Roof in Washburn

Siding and roofing meet at every eave, rake and wall corner, so the two jobs work best when they are planned together. If the siding is cracked, faded or loose, replacing it in the same season as the roof lets the crew install new flashing and trim once and tie everything in cleanly.

We help you pick a siding profile and color that suit the house and the new roof, and we look at the gutters at the same time so water leaves the roof and clears the walls. As a roofer in Washburn, ND that handles the whole exterior, we give you one schedule and one estimate instead of several contractors to coordinate.

If only one job fits the budget this year, we tell you which one protects the house better right now. Usually that is whichever one is letting water or wind inside, and the other can follow when you are ready.

Had Draxen construction out to take care of our roof in Bismarck, and they did an excellent job. The crew showed up ready to work, communicated throughout the project, and paid attention to the little details. Everything was done professionally, and they made sure the property was cleaned up before leaving. It's hard to find contractors who take pride in their work but Draxen definitely delivered. Highly recommend them for roofing in the Bismarck area!

Draxen crew came and did vinyl siding on my house. Everything came out just the way I thought it would. Everything was straight and they had cuts really precise. They even went around all the openings with caulk to seal up holes and edges around fixtures on the house. They held themselves in a professional manner while working on my house. When they found an issue with the house they brought it to my attention and we found a solution fairly quickly so they could keep working. They offer multiple solutions and didn’t make me feel strong armed while needing the services. Very good company in all and will be using them again for anything exterior. Very reasonably priced as well.

Washburn Questions

What Washburn Property Owners Want to Know

(701) 504-9808
Do you really come out to Washburn from Bismarck?

Yes. Washburn is part of our regular service area, and US 83 makes the trip straightforward. We plan visits so the inspection, estimate and any follow-up are handled efficiently, and we confirm the date with you ahead of time. Call (701) 504-9808, Monday to Saturday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, to get on the schedule.

Can you put a metal roof on my shop or outbuilding near Washburn?

Yes. Metal roofing is a strong choice for shops, garages and machine sheds as well as homes. Long panels shed snow well and stand up to wind. We look at the framing, the roof pitch and how the building is used, then recommend a panel style and trim details that fit, whether it is one shed or a house and shop together.

Who handles building permits for projects in Washburn?

Permit rules depend on where your property sits, inside Washburn city limits or out in McLean County, and they can differ from the rules in Bismarck. Before a roof replacement or siding project starts, we check what applies to your property and explain anything you need to do. If no permit is needed for a smaller repair, we tell you that up front as well.

What helps you give an accurate estimate for a Washburn home?

A few details make the first visit more useful. Let us know roughly how old the roof and siding are, where you have seen leaks or damage, and whether there are outbuildings you want looked at too. Photos sent ahead of time help us bring the right equipment, so the inspection and the estimate can usually happen in one trip.
